Selection Criteria for Casual Academic Staff - Undergraduate & Postgraduate Units
To be appointed you must meet the essential criteria at each level (including the essential criteria of previous levels). Preference will be given to applicants who also meet the desirable criteria.
Essential Criteria - Lecturer
- Degree in a relevant field. Achievement in scholarship and research and / or professional consultancy activities. Experience and achievement in teaching and / or curriculum development.
Diserable Criteria - Lecturer
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field. Service to the relevant profession and / or academic discipline.
Essential Criteria - Tutor
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or nearing completion of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
Desirable Criteria - Tutor
- Completion of, or enrolment in, honours or postgraduate studies in a relevant field.
- Previous teaching experience in a tertiary level institution.
Essential Criteria - Marker
- Good knowledge of relevant unit subject content (as demonstrated by academic record, and GPA where relevant, or equivalent).
Essential Criteria - Demonstrator
- Two years completion of a degree at the minimum.
- Ability, or demonstrated potential, to communicate effectively with students and to apply adult learning principles. Applicants with previous teaching experience should supply teaching evaluations to support their claims.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Desirable Criteria - Demonstrator
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or completion of, or enrolment in, honours or postgraduate studies in a relevant field.
- Previous teaching experience at tertiary level.
