Postgraduate
Research Scholarships within the Department of Computing
Scholarship selection is based on
academic merit and research potential. In general, applications for these
scholarships is highly competitive. Following are links to the most common
scholarships.
- Research
scholarships for local and international students
- Division of ICS Top-Ups currently valued around $4,000 (tax-free),
on top of 'main' scholarships (APA/MUPGRA/MQRES), hence making it possible
to receive more than $22,000 per year (or the equivalent of the APAI scholarship)
during their postgraduate research studies. This Top-Up is not available
to International Students and is normally only available to top candidates
(i.e., with an honours mark of 90%) who are in receipt of another competitive
scholarship (APA/MUPGRA/MQRES). The duration of the supplement is a year,
and its renewal is determined by the duration of the 'main' scholarship
to which it is tied. (Contact your tentative supervisor for application
details.)
- Postgraduate Research Teaching Supplement currently provides
an allowance of $8,000 (taxable) where the candidate will be required
to do approximately 6 hours teaching per week (or equivalent). valued
$8,000 (taxable). This supplement is normally only available to top candidates
who are in receipt of another competitive scholarship (APA/MUPGRA/MQRES/APAI/iMURS/IPRS),
hence making it possible to receive more than $30,000 per year during
their PhD. The duration of the supplement is a year, and its renewal is
determined by the duration of the 'main' scholarship to which it is tied.
