Course Units

We schedule our units to accommodate working students. Classes commence at 6pm on weeknights in the appropriate semester. A typical workload for one of our units is around 200 hours. This consists of:

  • up to 4 hours of classes and
  • a day of self-directed study per week during teaching periods, and
  • 12 hours a week of self-directed study during non-teaching periods.
  • we also occasionally run regular series of Saturday classes for selected units.
  • all courses have significant online presence and students will need to use their unit website to guide their self-directed study.

To view your unit webpages, please Login to Blackboard(WebCT) (or Moodle — check your unit's unit outline). Please also view the Teaching Lists- Postgraduate and Undergraduate(TBA) for the information on the lecturers. The unit outlines of the units would be updated by the unit convenors before the semester starts. Meanwhile, please use the information from previous semesters as a reference or check the description of the units in the 2010 Course Handbook.

Unit Availablity

Macquarie University reserves the right to change the content of, or withdraw, or change the time or mode of offering of any unit which it offers. Reasons to withdraw a unit can include but are not limited to, minimum class size and the continuing availability of suitable lecturing staff.

In the event of a withdrawal or change to the time or mode of offering of a unit, we will endeavour as far as practical to ensure you are assisted in finding a suitable alternative program of studies. It is therefore vital that you ensure the University is aware of any change to your contact details on eStudent.

We will make reasonable efforts to avoid disadvantage to any of our students resulting from a variation in our unit offerings. In some circumstances, it may be necessary for our students to accept alternative units in place of their original enrolment, which are offered outside normal teaching sessions or supported by flexible learning materials.
