Short Description

COMP115 is the main introductory computer science unit, providing a practical introduction to basic computing and programming concepts.

Assumed knowledge

    Learning outcomes

    1. An understanding of the basic concepts in computer science.
    2. An understanding of the basic computer organisation.
    3. Ability to solve problems using C++. In particular, to use basic programming concepts such as iteration, selection, procedures, functions and arrays.
    4. Sound knowledge of testing and debugging.
    5. Ability to write simple C++ programs using classes.
