Short Description

COMP343 provides an introduction to modern public-key cryptography.

Assumed knowledge

  1. Programming skills equivalent to those acquired after successful completion of COMP125. (COMP125)
  2. Discrete mathematics skills. (MATH237)

Learning outcomes

  1. Understanding of the fundamentals of modern cryptography and information security.
  2. Understanding of private-key and public-key cryptography and their security properties.
  3. Understanding of the basic cryptographic concepts for e-commerce (such as digital signatures and hashing).
  4. Ability to design basic cryptographic tools for information security.
