Short Description
COMP343 provides an introduction to modern public-key cryptography.
Assumed knowledge
- Programming skills equivalent to those acquired after successful completion of COMP125. (COMP125)
- Discrete mathematics skills. (MATH237)
Learning outcomes
- Understanding of the fundamentals of modern cryptography and information security.
- Understanding of private-key and public-key cryptography and their security properties.
- Understanding of the basic cryptographic concepts for e-commerce (such as digital signatures and hashing).
- Ability to design basic cryptographic tools for information security.
