Unit News
- Assignments 3 and 4 can be collected from the Computing Department office. Marks will be made available on blackboard.
- Assignment 4 can be picked up from Len this afternoon (Monday 24th) from 2:30pm.
- Watch this space: assignment marking is nearly complete. We will let you know how to pick up assignments before the exam.
- Pre-exam consultation: Len will be available Monday 24th November 3pm to 4:30pm as requested by at least one student.
- Lecture summary notes for weeks 1-6 are available now here.
- Pre-exam consultation: Len is available on Monday 17th November at 3pm to 4:30pm. If you are coming after 3:30pm, please email Len. Len is also willing to consult with you on Monday 24th November from 3pm to 4:30pm, but you must send an email if you wish to meet him at that time. You can also send email to request an appointment at another time.
- Assignments 1 and 2: Len has the marked assignments and can return them to you on Monday 17th at 3pm. Please contact Manav by email if you want to discuss your assignment and obtain additional feedback, especially in regard to assignment 2.
- Thursday 6 Nov: Lecture cancelled due to illness. As the material being covered is not examinable, there will be no catch-up lecture. See you next week.

- 8 Oct: Assignment 3 revised - significant changes.
- 6 Oct: Assign 2 update: Specifies input and output for part B; gives marking criteria.
- 5 Oct: Tutorials 8 and 9 available.
- 18 Sep: Based on student requests, Len plans to include datapath, and SPARC procedures in the catch-up lecture/tutorial. Please email Len if you want to participate.
- 17 Sep: Catch-up lecture/tutorial. Len is offering additional lecture/tutorial at the following times: Friday 19 Sep, 11am-12:30 and Monday 22nd Sep, 10am-11:30 in E6A357. The content of the two events will be different but related, with a focus on SPARC assembly and the SPARC architecture, so you may attend one or both events. If you intend to attend either or both of these events, please email len at ics.mq.edu.au stating (a) your name (b) which event(s) you plan to attend and (c) any particular question or topic (from any part of COMP226 so far) that you would like discussed.
- 16 Sep: Assignment 2 (due week 8 after the break) and assignment 3 (due week 10) are now available. You should work on both of these assignments during the break.
- 16 Sep: Len's lecture notes on memory and caches are now available.
- 9 Sep: Lecture notes now available. Also, additional resources for SPARC assembly (including a link to the complete 295 page manual from Sun - DO NOT PRINT THIS). Our online SPARC reference manual is recommended, but does not have as much detail.
- 4 Sep: Tutorial 6 is now available.
- 4 Sep: Blackboard problems? If you cannot submit your assignment via blackboard because of blackboard problems (not because you are late) then please send it in email to Len. Include a detailed description of how blackboard failed, and tell me the browser you are using, browser version, OS version and whether you are using a PC at Uni or home. This information may help to improve blackboard for the future.
- 3 Sep: Help with arrays now provided for assignment 1.
- 3 Sep: Help with decimal output has now been provided for assignment 1.
- 26 Aug: Assignment 1 has been updated - due date, marking criteria, and some clarification.
