Description
This unit introduces students to requirements engineering, system analysis and design and databases. The principles and concepts of large-scale data storage, management and modelling are considered. Particular emphasis is placed upon the practical application of this conceptual material in a business environment. Fundemantel data modelling tools, techniques and query languages are considered and Structured Query Language (SQL) is exammined in some depth. The importance of a structred and ethical approach to the collection and management of data and to the design and construction of systems is emphasised throughout.
